Seniors: St Bernards Run St Kevins Off Their Feet!
|
.
Whenever St Bernards play St Kevins its 'game on' and with St Kevs
holding
on to slim finals hopes this was going to be a real test. Bernards
started well with quick movement of the ball but some poor misses were
costly. Despite dominating general play Bernards could not convert on
the scoreboard and with St Kevs big Lynch controlling the rucks
Bernards held only an eight
point advantage at the long break.
Coach Madden stressed the pre match plan at half time and assured his
troops that with our superior fitness and run the cracks will open ...
and open they did with Bernards slamming on 7.3 to 1.4 before running
out 50 point winners at the final siren.
Cal Potter (6) and Tate Pearson (4) lead the goalkickers, Tom
Caven and Grant Bessagio were terrific in defence,
Daniel Janides, David Blunt, Simon Cave and Damien McLaughlin
controlled the midfield
while George Garth took the honours over St Kevins All Australian star
Ben Dowd.

Reserves: Ressies 'Mean Machine' Power
Home
Again! |
St
Bernards (first) v Skevs (second) in a possible 2nd Semi prelude and it
was
a high standard game. The boys worked very hard from the word go and
tested the determined Skevs line up opening up a 30 point lead at half
time. Skevs fought back hard in the third qtr but Bernards had too many
answers in an impressive display.
Andrew Maggiore and Steve Mitchell lead
the way and Bryce Miziewicz, Steven Iannazzo and Sean Bergin were on
fire and Pat Harris notched 7 gls as
Bernards powered away for an emhatic win.

Under 19 (1): Bernards Beaten By
Bigger
Blacks! |
After
recent good form Matty Mulkearn's boys travelled to Crawford oval with
some genuine confidence but didn't reckon on Uni Blacks getting several
VFL players back for the game.
Despite battling hard and keeping in touch in the first Bernards could
not hold off the strong Blacks line up before going down 19.12 to 11.8.
Tommy Duyndham did well in the ruck, Michael Sullivan, Andrew van Meel,
Michael Angel, Alex Singleton, Jake Bavander and Luke Sweeney all
contributed along with Captain Daniel Igoe who is progressing well
after missing much of the season with injury.

Under 19 (2): Pups Nearly Pull Off Upset Of
The Season! |
.
These
Pups are biting and with an ounce of luck could have beaten top of the
ladder Aquinas in the early game at 'the Pit'
Its a great credit to Pete van Meel and
his youngsters to see them bounce back strongly over the past 6/7 weeks
after having so many players unavailable early in the season.
'Our man' Justin Mono bagged three
while best for Bernards were Owen McIntyre, Matt Trim, Steve
Cairney, Matt Soccio, Pat Gamwell, Peter Villani
