Round 9 Reports
Seniors: Keep the 'JOC' Trophy at the 'Pit'
Supporters
were shaking their
heads at quarter time ... after looking a far superior side the
scoreboard showed only a two point lead at the first break. With St
Kevs midfield getting on top we limped into the main
break trailing by 10 points. After coach Simon Madden gave the boys a
spray the third quarter was a different story with Bernards
slamming
on 7.2 to inaccurate Skevs 1.6
Not to be denied Skevs with
Simpson and Dowd now dominating the
stoppages came again and got within two points before a strong mark and
goal from Alex Jolley closed the game for an 8 point victory. Our best:
Tom Caven, Nic Cattapan, Justin Evans, Chris Mitchell, Alex Jolley and
Luke O'Sullivan.

Reserves: Ressies Secure Top spot!
Reigning
premiers St Kevs had set
themselves for a big game all week and came ready to have a real dip at
Bernards. In a torrid battle in the first three quarters the Bernards
boys proved a little fitter and got their run going to finally snuff
out the Skevs challenge.
Jesse Manunzio (picured right) led
the way with great support from
Brendan Ryan, David Blunt and Kyle Dalmau. Andrew Smith was a rock down
back and AJ Mitchell finished the good work off with four majors at
full forward.

Warriors: Bwyton Boys go Missing!
The
whisper during the week was
that the Brightton boys had been keeping an eye on my Warrior reports
and
when I let slip that the hordes were planning a five chook kill pre
match it was all too much ... yep they didn't show up ... forfeited!
Now we know that the Bwyton tribe
have always been noted as being more
'downhill skiers' than 'brave in battle' but in this case they have
shown a distinct lack of class and worse they have angered the warrior
hordes ... didn't they realise they are scheduled to play the hordes
again in round 13?
Back at the
campfire last
night I saw a strange and ominous
sight ... Jonny ‘Horrible’ Hellard, Mick ‘the
Irish Mawler’
Moloney and Paul ‘Gruesome’ Gilmour were tattooing a sixth chook with
the words ... Round 13!
|
|
The infuriated hordes will head to Fitzroy
next week.

Under 19 (2): Pups give a yelp for half!
Pete
van Meels young side battled manfully against a strong Ivanhoe
side. The boys managed to stay in touch until half time trailing by
just 16 points but Ivanhoe had too many answers in the second half
before running out 51 point winners at the final bell.
Star West Australian recruit
Johhny Purdie continues his development at
'the Pit' and was our best player on the day. Others to shine for
Bernards were big Ryan O''Dea, Peter Mugavin, Justin Monaghan, Joel
Cribbina and Pat Gamwell
