Round
4: Pottsy
boots nine in Bernards 40 pt
win
|
Seniors:
In
perfect conditions at the super impressive Carey Sports Centre St
Bernards got caught napping at the stalls while Carey skipped to a
three
goal lead at the 15 min mark of the first stanza. Perhaps the boys were
taking in the plush surrounds but with Roach quickly
taking control acrross half back and Cal Potter providing a focal point
up
forward St Bernards slammed on 9 goals to Carey's 2 to lead by 25
points at
half time.
A lacklustre second
half eventually saw Bernards run
out 40 point winners and continue to head the table with four straight
wins to date. Pottsy's nine goals
takes his tally to 25 from the first four rounds to head the
competitions leading goalkickers.
Other goalkickers included Schrodes 3, Chris Mitchell 2 and singles to
Sammy Scott. Nic Cattapan and Tate Pearson
Our best on the day were Roachy, Cal Potter, Nic Cattapan, Chris
Liberatore, Ryan
Schroder and Damiel Janides with youngsters Andrew Stapo, Alex Jolley
and Tom Overman continuing to show promise.
Pictured

Sunday
morning with Chops the wonder dog leading lap work before recovery work
with Snaz.

Reserves:
Like the Seniors the Ressies were a bit slow of the mark trailing Carey
by 3 goals half way into the second quarter but with Lossa O'Sullivan
and 'Buckets' Evans providing marking targets up forward the boys
slipped
into gear in the third quarter and ran their opponents ragged slamming
on 5.6 to 2 points.
Another 5 goal last quarter to Carey's 1 point gave St Bernards a
comfortable 55 point margin at the final siren.
Our best: Kyle Dalmau,
Lossa O'Sullivan, Justin Evans and Tom Christie with James
Flannery,
Jesse Manunzio, Andrew Smith and Chris Davis supporting well.

Under 19 Premier:
With a number of injuries the young 19 (1) side faced a powerful De
La Salle line up out at Waverley. The boys started ok but found the
opposition a bit hot before going
down by 76 points.
Youngster Andrew van Meel booted four goals with our other best players
on the day being Steve Forcone, Luke Sweeney, Alex Singleton, Jacob
Bevanda and Josh Kassis.
Hopefully the boys will get a few back from our long injury list soon
and the tide
will begin to turn.

Capt Daniel Igoe back soon

The Pups - Under 19 (2)
The pups (as predicted by this scribe) opened their account with a
great win over St Leo's at the Pit.
Breaking the game open in the second
quarter the pups led by David
Kavanagh (6 goals) ran out 42 point victors with winners all over the
park.
Our best Pat Ganwell, Peter Mugavin, David Kavanagh, Josh Cribbin, Liam
Neal and Dylan O''Connor

Warriors:
The hordes
assembled early to kill a
couple of chooks and
mentally prepare for the defence of 'the Pit' against the Fitzroy Reds.
The Reds were so awed by the tribe early that they failed to score in
the first half. Warriors 7.9 to 0.0 but a spirited second half by the
visitors resulted in the full time margin remaining at 53 pts at the
bell.
No senior
side has lost at the Pit to date and the hordes will
aim to keep it
that way next week. The Old Trinity clan are coming but the Warriors
are ready. I'm tipping three chooks and a Trinity scalp!
