Vale Bernard Spain

21 April 2015

The club is sad to report that old collegian and former Committeman Bernard "Bernie" Spain has passed away.

Bernie came to the college and the club in 1967, late in his schooling but very quickly became a very positive influence. Football clubs need leaders and hard workers on and off the field, and in his role on the Committee Bernie really breathed life into the social aspect of the clubs activities and community. He lead the way improving off field events and his enthusiasm really spread positively through the club. Bernie loved his racing, music, travel and good wine. In Anzac week is appropriate to note that Bernie also did National Service for a year in Vietnam in 1970-71.
Bernie is survived by his wife Veronica and younger siblings Keryn, Gavan, Leanne and Andrea. The club offers its condolences to Bernie's immediate and extended family and is greatful for the time Bernie spent with his many friends over the years at the football club.
