'Stoofa' sets hot pace at preseason camp

27 February 2012

Over fifty players, coaches and support staff headed to Geelong for the weekend for our 2012 preseason camp.

The boys sweated it out in the searing heat on Saturday and after a few quiet recovering ales on Saturday night were enjoying a good nights sleep when at 5.30am Sunday morning Camp Leader 'Stoofa' roared through the sleeping quarters with a megaphone .. and it was off again for a tough Sunday morning workout.

Stoofa did a great job of challenging the group with his team building and leadership focussed exercises and was most complimentary of the boys commitment. "St Bernards has a number of blokes who showed terrific leadership and I was impressed by the effort put in by the entire group".

The camp was well attended by senior players and it was a good opportunity for some of the 19s and new players to mix with the group.

Senior coach Chris Tankard was pleased with the boys efforts and the way Stoofa pushed the boys physical and mental comfort zones.

Miracle Mel Beyer got the three votes for the support staff for staying with the boys in camp Saturday night while Garthy and Wheels slipped off to comfortable beds in Torquay. Thanks also to Craig, Paddy and Raff for helping out on the Saturday.

The playing group has three more weeks of preseason work before our Practice Match Schedule commences with an intra-club match at Anglesea on Sat 17th March.
