Seniors: Bernards Blow Opportunity Against Brighton!

It was an 8 point game and an opportunity went begging as St Bernards were outplayed by an impressive Old Brighton. After an even first quarter where scores were locked at 4.2 apiece Brighton shot away in the second quarter to take a 26 point lead at half time which proved the decisive break in the final analysis. On several occasions it looked like Bernards were going to get on top but Brighton answered each challenge in the 3rd quarter with 4.1 in response to Bernards 4.3 and it was the same in the last stanza when St Bernards drew within 20 points but Brighton replied and with two late goals added 5.4 to Bernards 4.4 for the quarter to run out 30 point winners.

The loss puts us back with the field and a must win game v Ivanhoe after the break.

Our Best: A. Merrington, S. Caven, A. Singleton, J. Stapleton, T. Overman

Reserves: Skill Errors Cost Ressies!

The Ressies allowed Brighton to get the early ascendancy with a 5.1 to 1.1 first quarter with some poor turnovers being costly in the first half Brighton stretched the lead to 32 points at half time. A torrid third quarter saw Bernards claw their way back into the match and in the last quarter St Bernards got within two kicks and looked like running over the top of their opponents but Brighton answered the challenge and kicked away for a 16 point win.

The loss leaves the Ressies fifth on the ladder and we now play fourth placed Ivanhoe after the break in another must win game.

Thirds: Undermanned Thirds Struggle at Xavier!

With a huge list of unavailables this week Mono's Boys were always going to struggle and struggle they did against a strong Xavs line up. The boys battled hard and it was a terrific effort to be within 10 points at half time but lack of numbers and Xavs bigger bodies proved too much in the second half with Xavs running away to a 54 point win at full time.

Warriors: Hordes Fall To Hoers!

With so many players out of the Reserves and Thirds the Warriors did well to field a side but playing Ivanhoe away was a big ask and the Hoers were simply too strong. The boys got away slowly to trail 6.13 to 2.4 at half time but like last week they didn't concede without a fight and in the second half St Bernards registered 5.3 to the Hoers 8.8.

Coach 'Miracle' Mel Beyer is looking forward to getting a few players back after the break and a win over 'the Strippers' is a distinct possibility!

Under 19: Bernards Bolt In Derby!

The local derby between St Bernards and Old Essendon was a mismatch with St Bernards far too good for the OEG boys at 'the Pit' on Saturday.

St Bernards had 39 scoring shots to OEG's 8 illustrating their dominance in the match

Daniel Riley continued his recent good form, Matt Borzillo was in everything as was Isaac Madden and Caleb Forder, James Bennie and Nick Schultz were other to shine in the 121 point win.

The boys sit second on the ladder and are away to third placed Old Carey in what should be a highly competitive game after the break.
