St Bernards Players Drafted . Mitch Hannan Melb FC . Ben Ronke Swans

Congratulation to two of our 2015 Premiership Players, on being selected in the AFL Draft.

Two hard working, diligent and highly talented young men, who made the most of their time in the St BernardsFC Development Program are going on to the big league.

Football development pays off : message from melbfc: Congratulations Mitchell Hannan (Footscray, VFL), who was selected with our first pick at No.46 in tonight's NAB AFL Draft!

The 22-year-old played for Footscray in the VFL this year and was part of its premiership win over Casey Scorpions (Melbourne’s affiliate). He played four games for Footscray in 2015 and 14 this year. A spectacular mark, Hannan, who is originally from Gisborne, was best-on-ground in St Bernards 2015 premiership. The midfielder/forward didn’t make the Calder Cannons squad, but grew 14cm after under 18s. He is now 189cm. Possessing speed, power and endurance, Hannan was a cross-country runner when he was younger. He is now an architect.

Congrats to 2015 St Bernardsfc Premiership player and 2016 Calder Cannons B&F Ben Ronke, who has just been selected no17 by sydney swans in the rookie draft

Message From the Swans: "The powerful midfielder is an impressive athlete. He is fast, agile and can run all day, and he uses those attributes to break lines. He has improved his kicking by learning how to find more time and space from congested situations. A strong second half of the year propelled him to winning the Calder Cannons' best and fairest. He can hit the scoreboard as well."

We encourage all players to get involved in the St BernardsFC development program, wether you just want to do your best playing with local mates or shoot for the AFL stars.
