Look good - Feel better

31 July 2015

Last Saturday the Ladies Network staged their Annual Charity Lunch, with over 150 in attendance.

This year the "John Fawkner Hospital Ladies Charity Lunch", raised vital funds forLook Good - Feel Better, an organisation that assists ladies battling cancer. Junior Club Mother and Ladies Network Committee Member Nicole Foley, who is a volunteer for the organisation's workshops, gave an excellent talk and showed a moving video on how this group assists ladies to look better, despite the negative impact of their cancer, and by doing so help them cope as their health battles continue.

John Fawkner Hospital organised Urologist and Surgeon Dr Jos Jayarajan (pictured) to present on women's health issues. She gave a very insightful presentation on many aspects of women's health, and elaborated on the new treatments and procedures available to improve ladies quality of life. Following Dr Jos was Emma Cransberg a top flight physiotherapist of over 15 years in practise at Windy Hill. Many cancer patients, men and women, need physio treatment as they go through their cancer recovery phase. Emma gave an innovative and informative talk that included the whole room doing pelvic floor exercises! Not sure too many football club lunches could boast such unique activity, and such a top class lineup of speakers, such as those seen at this special lunch/event.

Through a ticket price donation, gift bag raffle and monster lunch raffle, over $2,000 was raised forLook Good - Feel Better. So a special thanks to all the ladies that supported this Ladies Network event. In particular the club would like to thank the Ladies Network Committee, confidently lead by Angela McGuire and her hard working team.

Also, an event like this could not be successful without the support of many generous local community sponsors. From naming rights sponsor, John Fawkner Hospital, right through all the other sponsors on the day (listed below), we thank them and encourage people in the club network to support those organisiations that support the football club.

Overall, this was another high quality Ladies Network function, and the club is delighted to see so many ladies engaging in special club events.

Thanks and regards
