Dogs vs Cats in the countryside

26 March 2014

Seniors : faced a strong and determined Mooroopna Cats on a good country oval at Undera.

Seniors : While our dogs caught the cats napping early, the cats fought back/knuckled down and it was a tight arm wrestle thru the rest of the game. Cats got the cream on a late score but as we know praccys are all about development. Multiple rotations/combinations were being tried by Anthony Rock and his assistants + was good to get new recruits on the park and familiarizing themselves with the team in a gameday environment. Chad Jones (claremont/eagles/roos) glen chivers (st kevs) alex mcleod (pascoevale/bombers vfl) sam fleming (portland) jake calvert (frankston) joined with returning players, josh madden, ben considine, and luke madden to give the side additional depth. Important last hitout this weekend at Collegians with places in all teams up for grabs.
Ressies/Thirds :

Ressies/thirds under new coach Chris "Chisel" Davis put in another improved performance in Mooroopna praccy. rotations and game plan built on the good showing last week v uni blacks and as chris said post game, "still plenty of hard work and improvement too come boys " the boys racked up 19 goals and a number of players were rotated thru opposition team for balance and held back for some work in senior game. The lads are looking forward to next weeks hit out vs a powerful Collegians club at their ground.

Despite an early 7am departure, the U19 Premier boys enjoyed the Sita Coaches bus ride to play Mooroopna, a valuable opportunity for Rocky/assist coaches/players, to work on gameplans/structure and execution. score was not material as we supplied some boys to balance player numbers, but a...n important step with rd one just 2weeks away. remainder of Unders had an armwrestle with a hard working Mazenod in melb and coach Rohan Vahland reported its was good to shake of some game rust and get the boys focussed again in a match day environment.
