Damien Sullivan Appointed Reserves Coach for 2012

Damien Sullivan has accepted the position of coach of the reserves team for 2012.

Damien Sullivan has accepted the position of coach of the reserves team for 2012. Damien coached the 2011 U19 section 2 Premiership team where he and Ray King were primarily focused on the development of as many players as possible in preparation for senior football.

This development focus will be a key component of Damien’s role as reserves coach, particularly considering ten of the 2011 U19 Premiership side, and approximately 13 of the 2011 U19 squad, will be eligible for senior football in 2012. This group of young men will add to the considerable talent pool that was reflected in the reserves team of 2011 that fell less than a kick shy of playing in the 2011 Premier B reserves Grand Final.

Regardless of on-field results, ultimately the success of the reserves team in 2012 will be reflected in the development of the playing group, and the extent to which the senior coaching panel has an increased depth of "senior ready" players capable of seamlessly moving into the senior team as required.

Damien will work closely with senior coach, Chris Tankard, and the two assistant coaches, Nick Smith and Nick Duggan, to ensure the key elements of the senior team's game plan are utilised by the reserves team.

Damien will take some time to consider his coaching support appointments. These will be announced in due course.

Please join me in wishing Damien well in his new role.
