Members of the Club Community embarking on a charity ride. Please read on and any assistance people maybe able to give will be gratefully accepted..

LIFESTART CHARITY RIDE : Richard Brown, Matt Mulkearns, Peter Riley, Paul Runting (and a group of others) are doing a charity ride in Vietnam. The ride commences on 14 April, 2017 and finishes on 21 April, 2017. It is an initiative of Lifestart Foundation.
Lifestart Foundation (www.lifestartfoundation.org.au/about-us/) is a grassroots, not-for-profit charity that assists disadvantaged Vietnamese children and their families become self-sufficient. It was founded in 2000 by Victorian Karen Leonard. Karen was awarded an Order of Australia for ’services to international humanitarian organizations’ in the recent Australia Day Awards. Obviously a well- deserved award for many years of sacrifice and dedication to the families and children of central Vietnam!

Anyway, the aim of the ride is to raise $US25,000 (approximately $A33,000) for the specific purpose of providing scholarships to enable a (small) group of students the opportunity of attending University. Without this money they could not afford to do so.
Richard has been a long - time supporter of Life Start Foundation and is, in fact, on the Board. He has done a power of work for the Foundation and orphaned children over the years and made a significant difference to the lives of many.
In order to participate, each rider has made a commitment and is required to raise (a minimum) of $A3,300. (i.e. $US2,500). (Note: This amount is totally separate to the airfare, accommodation and riding costs that each rider is required to pay independently)
Donations can be made easily. Go to http://www.lsfcharityride.org.au/sponsor/ and follow the prompts. Please note – you can you include richard, matt, peter or pauls name in ‘special instructions’ so that they are aware of how much has been donated) Matt advises All donations are tax deductible and donors will receive a tax deductible receipt for their contribution. I will ensure I follow up a receipt for you. Just send me a reply email, mmulkearns@yahoo.com, confirming your donation and I will ensure it gets sent to you in a timely manner.

The club congratulates these gents for their charity efforts, and the many many others in the club community that engage in a wide range of very worthwhile charity work and fund raising.
