Bernards Boys Raise Cash For Kids

13 October 2011

Congratulations to our St Bernards OCFC swimmers who competed on Sunday over a 12 hour period, in the Tullamarine Rotary 12 Hour Super Swim.

CONGRATULATIONS to our St Bernards OCFC swimmers who competed on Sunday over a 12 hour period, in the Tullamarine Rotary 12 Hour Super Swim and were victorious in winning the "Most Laps Swam" trophy.

We fielded 2 teams, the Doggie Paddlers and the Breast Strokers, with the Breast Strokers blitzing the field swimming 39kms which was 7kms ahead of our closest rivals.

The teams raised $1,400 for TLC for Kids ($300 more and we would have won the "Most Money Raised/Most Laps Swam" trophy).

Rob Lawrence will be talking with Neil Mitchell on 3AW this week on behalf of St Bernards OCFC and Tullamarine Rotary re: their involvement. TLC for Kids is also a charity heavily supported by 3AW.

Jess Kane (Josh Madden's girlfriend) swam 110 laps (5.5kms) on her own, also winning the female quickest 25 metre sprint at 17 secs.

Paul Iannazzo and Tom Caven drew for the male sprint at 15 secs each (James "Foxy" Hughes, was attempting the sprint but pulled out after tearing his hamstring ??!!).

George Garth went "Missing In Action", not fronting for his morning timeslot & couldn't be contacted/phoned/texted ?! I was personally very worried for his safety & was relieved when he rolled up in the afternoon ( perhaps a little bit shaky from the night before ) & in true St. Bernards spirit, swam admirably for 2 hours.

Nick Hughes & Marty Byrne are still looking for their swimming partner, Justin Evans.

BIG THANKS to all the swimmers...you all had great fun !
