Airport Toyota Golf Day a Big Hit

06 March 2014

A memorable golf day was enjoyed by some 50 allround sportsmen on saturday, at a very well maintained and helpful Tullamarine golf course.

Special thanks to Steve Wallis and his team at Airport Toyota for their kind sponsorship, while Ascot Vale Trophies helpfully provided awards for best (and worst) performed golfers. Other helpful donors, included Frank Mono & Craig Connelly. The Organising Committee lead by Tom Overman, Tom Caven, Adam Bentick, George Garth and food/beverage manager Sam Firth staged a a very enjoyable and fun event, where particpants let off some steam and relaxed away from the rigours of a big preseason.

One of Airport Toyota's top salesmen, golf club member and handy golfer, Angelo Blias arrived in a fully badged top of the line Corolla as special guest for the day. Angelo was fresh from selling a car pre-event to new recruit Chad Jones. Angelo (0419 001 440) is the man too see to get you sorted with your next set of wheels, with a top class range of both new and preloved vehicles waiting for you too test drive at Airport Toyota. Just let Angelo know you are from Bernards and in consultation with Steve Wallis, the right car at the right price can be yours.
On the golfing front, its fair to say the skill levels of players certainly covered a wide range, from golfing hotshots like Jack "Bubba" Gay and Tim "the Dart" Harvey through to some more agricultural particpants like Tom "Sideways" Sullivan and the "where did that go ?" Peart brothers.

The Ambrose format put a premium on team work within each group, and it wasnt long before some long putts were dropping and cheers were ringing out across the course. As we know golf lends itself to some interesting fashion statements and some of the boys went to great lengths to look the part. Tom "Ricky Fowler" Caven (bright orange), Daniel "Wall Street Braces" Riley, Alex "Straw hat" Singleton, George "Brown Socks" Garth and "Happy Gilmore" Madden all  featured in the hotly contested fashion stakes.

The leaderboard chopped and changed all day, before some miracle shot making and clutch putting saw the group of Will,Ben,Paul Considine and assistant coach Matt O'Connor crowned "St Bernards Masters". In an event where its all about participation, no need to focus on who came last, however before next years event Ed, Giacamo,Singer and Sneaky may need to hit the riverside driving range early !.

Special thanks again to Steve and Angelo at Airport Toyota and well played by all our 50 strong field, the golf day was certainly a load of fun and a big hit !
