A Grade footy is back

17 April 2012

On Saturday just gone, the seniors and reserves played their final practice match against Old Ivanhoe.

The reserves started the day in good fashion by having a comprehensive win, with the ressies showing the effects of a good preseason by completely out classing Old Ivanhoe in all aspects of the game. In the senior game it was a tighter contest with the scores being fairly even at each of the breaks, but in the last quarter our boys like in the reserves begun to show the effects of a good preseason by being able to shut the game down and allow their fitness to help them run away with a good win.

The U19's also completed their final practice match on Saturday against St.Bede's Mentone. In this game the boys from St.Bedes were stronger early on and were 5 goals up at 1/4 time. In 2nd quarter the Bernards boys showed improvement while kicking with the wind. In the 3rd the boys battled hard against the wind and were outstanding. In the last the scores became tight, but the result ended up going in favour of St.Bedes way by only 8 points. In what was a very high quality game and with the boys having not played much together thus far, the coaches were happy with the result.

This Saturday the real stuff starts for all teams. The seniors are away on Saturday, which is a replay of last year's B grade Grand Final against Caulfield Grammarians and so encourage as many of our supporters to come down to Caulfied to watch what should be a great game. The senior game kicks off at 2:00pm, and is preceded by the reserves at 11:40am and 3rds at 9:20am.

In other games the U19 (1)'s kick the season off away against Fitzroy at 2:00pm, U19 (2)'s at home against Old Camberwell at 2:00pm, U18's at home against Williamstown at 9:20am, The Warriors at home against Ivanhoe at 11:40am.
