Vale Paul McManus

R.I.P Paul McManus

The club is very sad to report the passing of Paul McManus '59, a long time supporter and past player of the Club.

Paul started with the old boys' in the year of its inception, 1963, but because of his commitments to his profession as a Pharmacist he found it hard to play many games. However Paul could play!

He started the 1964 season in great form and in one of the early games kicked 12 goals, which may still be a club record in senior football. He then played a few games of reserves football at Essendon, but after that he basically retired due to work commitments.

Paul established a Pharmacy in Keilor Road and was there for many years, before moving it to Lalor. His sons Andrew '88 (later to win the Stawell Gift and represent Australia in athletics), Kieran '89, Ben '99 and Daniel '01 all played football with the old boys through the juniors and seniors.

His daughter Kate was club physiotherapist for many years. Paul unfortunately contracted prostate cancer about six years ago and fought it very bravely for many years.

The funeral has been confirmed for 11am friday 8th april at St John Bosco's Church in Niddrie. Wake to follow at Keilor East RSL in Hoffmans Road.

Sincere Condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to the McManus family and friends at this most difficult time.

May Paul rest in peace.
