SIX TEAMS WILL PLAY FINALS

09 August 2014

RESULTS TODAY CONFIRM EVERY BERNARDS SENIOR TEAM WILL PLAY FINALS FOOTBALL

The mighty U19 North teams heart stopping 6 point win against the high quality Therry team today sealed a finals spot for the last of our six senior club teams.

THE STATE OF PLAY – 3 UNDERS TEAMS

•The unders competition only has 2 weeks of the home and away season left.

•19 Prem is 2 games and over 100% clear of second.  A second semi final against either St Kevins or Old Xaverians beckons in 3 weeks time.

•U19 North is now equal second and 10 points clear of 4th place with only 2 games left.  The last round game against Wyndham will decide if the boys get a double chance or not – get around North this next 2 weeks as the boys push for 2nd spot

•VAFA Colts are now one game clear in second place, but play 4th place Point Cook and 3rd place Westbourne Grammar in the last 2 rounds.  Two wins will guarantee a double chance.

THE STATE OF PLAY – 3 SENIOR TEAMS

•It seems likely now that both the 1sts and 2nds are secure in the top two of Premier division, and both destined for second semi final clashes at Elsternwick Park (Sportscover Arena) on Saturday September 6th.

oThe 1sts are equal top and 3 games and 21% clear of 3rd place Old Scotch

oThe 2nds are 3 games and 43% clear of 2nd spot

•The 3rds loss to Uni Blues today means the mighty thirds are likely to meet Uni Blues again in the 1st semi final on Sunday September 7th, also at Elsternwick Park (Sportscover Arena).

There’s still 3 rounds left and huge games for the 1sts/2nds against:

•Old Scotch – round 16, away

•De La Salle – round 17, home

•Uni Blacks – round 18, away

So, the senior football club will have six out of six teams contesting finals football, starting with all 3 “unders” teams in 3 weeks time on Saturday August 30.

Senior team finals commence Saturday September 6th at Sportscover Arena.  It seems we will have teams playing on both Saturday September 6th AND Sunday September 7th.

Get down to the club, get around the players and enjoy this coming 5 to 6 weeks of football as every senior team prepares for finals football.
