Senior Defensive Coach Appointed

12 October 2012

Nick Mitchell has been appointed Senior Defensive Coach for season 2013

The committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Mitchell to the role of defensive coach for the senior team.  Having had three years as senior coach at Old Geelong Grammarians from 2009 to 2011, and an outstanding playing record in his own right, Nick brings a wealth of playing experience and coaching experience to the football club and will be an invaluable asset for both the playing group and the senior coaching group.

Nick joins Simon Atkins as senior mids/forward coach, and both Nick and Simon will support senior coach Chris Tankard as the football club seeks to take our coaching set up to “the next level”.

Nick’s appointment finalises senior coaching appointments for the firsts and seconds, with our coaching set up for season 2013 as follows:

Club football director, Craig Connelly, continues in discussions with a candidate for the U19 Premier coaching role.  Should those discussion lead to an applicant being appointed to the role, attention will turn to appointments for the 3rds assistant coaching role, and the U19(3) and U18 coaching positions.

We are likely to seek applicants for these positions in the coming weeks.
