Vale Barry Overman

Sad to report the passing of our first vice-captain, Barry Overman, after a short battle with cancer on 3 May. Barry was the second of four Overman brothers who all have had a significant effect in the growth of the football club.He was vice captain of the the clubs first team in 1963.  As have the next two generations of Overman's. The brothers, Peter, Barry, Jim, who was co-founder of the club, and Charles all played in premiership teams - a unique feat. Peter and Jim are also life members. Barry, our Heritage Listed player 21, missed the first game of the club through injury, but for the remainder of the season was a dominant force in the centre. Barry left for England half way through 1964 and on his return lived in Sydney for the remainder of his life. He had recently turned 80.  Survived by wife Judy, 4 children & 10 grandchildren .  Vale Barry Overman:
